Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are from a small town in rural North Carolina. The school that I teach at is a Title I school, in which the majority of students are on free or reduced lunch. While these students face many challenges outside of school, they come to school willing to learn and identify school as their safe place. They are amazing individuals and I am proud to be their teacher. I teach 4th grade and there will be a maximum of 18 students in my class this year.
My Project
An area rug in the classroom will give my students a place where we can meet as a whole class for meetings, sit for mini lessons and read aloud. Students can also use the area rug for small group activities and individual reading time.
Stretching out to read a great book sounds amazing!
This is my first year teaching. The floor in our classroom is tile. I want to have another area to sit instead of being confined to their chairs and desk throughout the school day. Please help me to bring comfort into our classroom and help create a common area in the classroom where students can learn and share.
