Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach Science to 4 different classes that are homogenously grouped. I teach in a Title 1 school, that is located in a district that is being faced with a huge budget deficit. This is directly affecting the materials that are available in the classroom.

I strive to make learning fun. Unfortunately, due to an emphasis on Reading and Math in preparation for the FCAT, learning often consists of pencil and paper work for my students. When my students come to me for Science instruction, I want my students to have the opportunity to enjoy learning rather than dread it.

To create a learning environment that is inviting, educational and fun, I try to create lessons that the students will actively engage and participate in. The Science Quiz Game Show will allow the students to work alone, in pairs and groups to answer the questions and reach the next level of knowledge. The Bingo games will allow the students again to work in pairs, groups and as a whole class to master the skills that are being taught.
