My Students

I work with fifth and sixth grade middle school students in a lower socioeconomic region of Missouri. Our school tries its best to provide all the materials needed to make our students successful. My students are students with special needs, and one of the areas they struggle with is meeting their sensory needs within the general and special education classroom settings.

My Project

During our difficult and unexpected times we all need help to regulate our emotions and energy levels. My students with sensory needs and/or difficulties attending are no different. They just need a way to regulate the amount of energy they have or may need to use some putty to think things through. The supplies for this project will help them get what they need.

By using the bouncy bands, students with excess energy are able to sit in class and listen to instruction while moving their feet.

It allows them to move but still focus. The thinking putty is helpful for those students needing to get their frustrations out or as a reward for work completed.

The supplies for this project address the main areas that students in middle school struggle with as they mature. Having them would help me to integrate them more easily into the classroom setting.
