This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach fifth graders that belong to different backgrounds and ethnicities in San Jose, California. My students are enthusiastic, inquisitive, and inquiring learners who love to come to school each day. They are remarkably inspired to learn and do their best in school.
I teach at an exceptional, diverse, and distinctive school in California where more than 71% of students receive free and reduced-price lunch.
My students speak many different languages like Spanish, Vietnamese, Greek, Tagalog or Dutch at home. We always celebrate the things that make us different, and the things that make us the same. This wonderful class is a family at school.
My Project
Each of my students come with a joy to learn and become productive in class. My main goal for this project is become thinkers, leaders, and creators. Science, along with the other subjects, can make a difference when learning.
We have been learning about Chemistry and its periodic table these last weeks.
I would like my students to explore about atoms, molecules, science readings, and more. A Matter Book library would help my 5th graders investigate about matter and reinforce their reading skills. A Read About Science Learning Centers would help my little scientists explore matter and experiment using the scientific method, and The Matter Activity tub would inspire my boys and girls to understand concepts like atom when creating and discussing like real “scientists”
Science is a subject where you apply everything you learn at school, too. Students need to read instructions, number steps, make hypothesis, and try again.
