Students will develop an understanding of sustainability and environmental awareness in the investigation of traditional and contemporary architecture from around the world through power point presentations, books, music, map making, creating art block building, and constructing architectural models.
Our students are from diverse social-economic and ethnic backgrounds from many neighborhoods throughout the large urban city in California.
Fifty percent are English language learners; other students have varied learning styles and academic challenges. My students would benefit from resources such as architecture and folktale books, atlases, watercolor pencils, paper, modeling clay, music and a wall mounted projector screen to further develop skills towards proficiency, mastery of the Common Core Standards.
My Project
My students need architecture and folktale books, atlases, watercolor pencils, paper, modeling clay, music CDs and a wall mounted projector screen. Students will develop an understanding of sustainability and environmental awareness in the investigation of traditional and contemporary architecture from around the world through power point presentations, books, music, map making, creating art, and block building, constructing architectural models. They will learn about different cultures, folktales, poetry, music, and artifacts.
Students are developing skills in writing brief narrative based on my experiences, with a logical sequence of events; preparing and delivering short oral presentations; describing and classifying plan and solid figures, collecting, organizing, comparing data on charts and graphs, understanding patterns; understanding similarities and differences between past and present life; demonstrating mapping skills; measuring the length of objects; using scientific methods to conduct investigations; participating in the visual arts; developing an appreciation for different cultures' traditions, aesthetics, and music.
My students will benefit from project based, multiple sensory, multiple intelligence learning experiences supported through our Architecture around the World Program, cross curriculum literacy, math, science, multicultural, social studies, history, geography, visual arts, and music instruction.
