Archeologists & Historians in Training

My students need books to enrich our study of ancient history. Our class room library is in desperate need of books rich in photographs of cultural aspects of ancient life. Titles include "Aztec, Inca, and Maya," "Ancient Greece," and "Ancient Rome."

In my class we love to travel from inner city Baltimore to the pyramids of Egypt, the temples of Greece & Rome, the cradle of civilization in Mesopotamia, the mountain cities of the Inca and many more exotic locations. Everyday we take a journey back in time to learn about what life was life for our ancestors. The most frequent questions I receive from my students are about what life was like for people in ancient civilizations like Egypt, Inca Rome, and Feudal Japan. I can't actually take them to the pyramids but we can explore the world outside of our class through archaeological investigations of artifacts. The most enriching materials we have are books filled with photographs of artifacts, fossils, and historic replicas. My students can really get an idea of what life was like for these ancient people in the pages of these books. I am a social studies teacher whose goal in her career is to find one topic in history that inspires every child who walks into my class. Having a rich classroom library goes a long way to helping me achieve this goal. The proper books can awaken a students mind and provide them with the tools to explore the past. Your donation will help enrich our classes travel experiences.
