Arabian Nights and Charter Days

My Students

My students come from very diverse backgrounds and attend a school that focuses on project-based learning. As such, they are accustomed to working on collaborative projects and taking deep dives into several areas of our curriculum, including literature and art.

My students are at a dynamic age; they inquisitively view the world through lenses that are both curious and magical.

As their teacher, I am constantly exploring new ways to keep them enthusiastically engaged in all that we do. They always bring a lot to the table and never cease to amaze me.

My Project

This school year our students will read several tales from Arabian Nights (One Thousand and One Nights). In small groups they will write and act out skits based on the short stories told by Scheherazade. We need several materials to produce these skits, including props, costumes and a set. This project contains some materials to get us started.

My students will do more than read the stories in Arabian Nights, they will become them.

Is there a better example of powerful story telling from the medieval world than Arabian Nights? They are complicated, edgy and highly imaginative. I can't wait to see what my students come up with!
