My students need EXCITING rewards in place to inspire reading and comprehension. We are in the midst of assembling our annual AR Mystery trip and we need supplies. Students read books and earn an invitation!
As a School Media/Technology teacher and Librarian for kindergarten to fifth grade students, I am passionate about doing everything in my power to provide a safe, exciting and passionate learning environment! Students in our small school are learning a buildings that are not up to modern education standards. They often struggle to find success that is standardized with what they receive. That is where this project plays a huge roll.
We are a small town that is set in the mountains of Colorado.
We strive to provide as much as possible for our students on an extremely tight budget that is continually being cut.
My Project
Our students are getting excited about our annual Mystery trip. I chose to do something friendly on our tight budget. NO ONE knows what exactly I have in store but I am sure it will be a hit.
As students finish AR books they take the test and earn points, working towards an invitation.
Students that earn the trip get to spend the day outside of our school building. I can't tell you much but I can say they will work as a team to solve a series of mysteries to make it back to school on time to catch buses and go home for the weekend.
Students will work together to crack the code with UV pens and lights, discover combinations for locks, find hidden keys and finally escape their life sized puzzle with information we learned throughout the year ranging from Library Genre's, Dewey Decimal order, Reading, Literature and MORE!
This activity will be coordinated and put together by myself and volunteers to save money on cost. Students will tap into their memory banks to passed lessons of genre's, learn fun science, practice problem solving and work with others. LET THE MYSTERY BEGIN!
