Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students attend an urban public school with over 730 hundred children. 96% receive free or reduced price lunch. My students come from diverse backgrounds but when we are in the classroom we work together as one. They are very eager to learn and they deserve the best of the best!
My Project
I'm planning to use the aquarium and fish to explain to students how an aquatic ecosystem functions. My lessons will involve students recording observations of the fish and their interactions with environmental elements of the aquatic ecosystem to survive and reproduce. We will discuss how each particular environmental element contributes to the overall ecosystem within the aquarium in a way that is similar to the fish in an ocean and the elements there, such as water, plants, rocks, and soil. My goal is for students to understand the delicate interaction and balance between organisms and their environmental habitat. Students can observe this in person or virtually through our Zoom class meetings.
