This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Let the creativity flow and the paint fly! Just not all over our clothes, please. We are having a great time learning how to draw and paint, but discovered the more we get into our assignments, the messier we become. Aprons would solve the problem of our excessively colorful clothes.

While we are not at the bottom of the poverty level, as with most schools in our area, we have been significantly affected by budget cuts.

The arts, as always, are hit the hardest. My students are resilient and generous, though. They persevered and were patient as we crammed 40 plus students into a small classroom at the beginning of the year (with at least 10 students sitting on the floor due to lack of desks and chairs). They have donated some supplies out of the goodness of their hearts, seeing there is a need. They would gladly donate more, if they could afford to.

My Project

At this time we are asking for aprons. Many of my students can't afford to go to the laundromat frequently and don't have the money to purchase new clothes if they get ruined in an art class. We are looking forward to creating many more paintings and experimenting with all sorts of messy mediums.

Aprons would help save their clothes and give them peace of mind while working on their art.

They would be able to concentrate on their projects, rather than focusing on keeping their clothes clean. Their creativity would be unlimited with the protection aprons provide.
