Apprendre le français! (Acquire French through reading)

Help me give my students French readers so that they can practice the French language while learning about French culture from other parts of the world. Reading is one of the best ways to acquire a language.

My Project

Reading is one of the best ways to acquire a new language. The readers I selected are suitable for levels 1-3. Not only will students develop proficiency in reading and listening, but also in speaking and writing. Additionally, they will learn more about the French culture from other parts of the world (le monde francophone). Students will slowly acquire the language by expanding their vocabulary, seeing the grammar put into action and understanding the world from another lens.

My goal for this project is that students gain proficiency in these different modes- speaking, reading, listening and writing so that they can continue to enjoy learning about the French language and culture.

The more students read, the more they can see all the grammar they have learned being put into use. In return, I can use CI (comprehensible input) strategies to check for understanding, where French is being used 90% of the time.

My students are special because they all come different cultures and have different reasons for wanting to learn the French language and culture. As a French teacher, I want to provide them with meaningful and memorable learning opportunities so that they can become more proficient in the language, but also share their knowledge with authors and continue with their learning.
