My students need 5 Wobble chairs, Legos, baseplates, and an idea book to extend math and engineering; mobile storage carts, a book bin center, and book bins to help organize the physical environment; and 2 prompt balls.

My Students
My students are very energetic and curious learners. For some, this energy makes it difficult to do tasks while sitting in a chair and/or they need frequent kinesthetic opportunities to engage in learning. Materials requested will assist in helping students to be validated for their active style.
I teach in a large urban school district.
I teach at a STEM school that emphasizes project based learning, use of technology, and integration of engineering throughout the curriculum. The community is full of families on the go who want fun, enriching, challenging activities for their children. My students are full of energy, are very curious, social butterflies, and need opportunities for movement. They also need adequate spaces within the classroom to help them store belongings. Legos can extend math lessons and help students develop engineering understandings.
My Project
My student need mobile storage carts, a book bin center, and book bins: Our new classrooms do not have space for storage of backpacks. Hanging them on their chairs cramps the available space and creates hazards. Also, we store them outside now, and this often results in ant invasions. Students need this rack for better storage.
My students need Wobble chairs: Some students simply cannot work well sitting in traditional chairs. Wobbly chairs help those students feel more at ease and help them focus.
My students need Legos, baseplates, and an idea book: extension of math lessons in fractions, engineering, area, perimeter, excitement!
My students need prompt balls: brain breaks with prompts to develop skills appropriate to mastering the Common Core.
Excitement and validation of student learning styles communicate a respect for all.
Students who feel respected and valued will perform better in school. Moving instruction from book learning and discussion and lecture to hands-on opportunities, and allowing for movement through brain breaks and alternative seating options will help the kinesthetic students feel valued and successful.
