I will use these board games to review concepts in personal finance and allow students to apply what they have learned. Even though it has been a few years since distance learning, the social aspect within the classroom is still recovering. Students will be put into random groups; I have found the "game-like atmosphere" is very non-threatening for all students; therefore, it is a great way for students to bond.
There is a lightness in the classroom when students are playing board games.
They enjoy snacks, talk without the distraction of their devices and the best part is they apply their knowledge without feeling like it is "work".
Students are yearning for connection. The horoscope book will give me a chance understand my students and their varying personalities in a nontraditional way. It is a great conversation starter. I typically borrow the book from our local library but students like it so much I decided to request a copy for our classroom. The personal finance book will give me new ideas and new ways to teach the content without using devices.
With the addition of these materials, it will help to make our classroom dynamic, engaging and build a sense of community. Thank you!
