This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

A typical day in my classroom is extremely busy with lots of movement! Now we are in 2014 and I am working on improving the technology in my class to keep up with "the times." Attention spans are shorter now that technology has taken over and I want to teach at their speed!

I have a wonderful class that loves to learn.

I have 17 students between 5 and 6 and they are all at different stages in learning. Three of my students speak a different language at home. Two of my students came into my class with an individualized education plan to better their learning. Some are from low socioeconomic areas and some are from extremely high socioeconomic areas. Each student is special in my eyes and I like to differentiate my instruction the best way I can to reach each child's needs. I work at a school that I am proud to call my second home. I have a very supportive and collaborative faculty and staff. My colleagues and I are always looking for ways to improve and my hopes are that I can share this fabulous technical tool and the wonders it will bring to daily instruction in any classroom.

My Project

This document viewer will be able to project ANY item onto the Promethean board I received this year. It could be a leaf from outside. We could zoom in and look at its parts. It could be a simple worksheet that will not need to be copied 17 times. Maybe a student would like to show the rest of the class their work as a great example. The video feature would be perfect for class plays. We love to act out stories but they never get to watch themselves perform! With a microphone they would be able to record themselves reading a book for the very first time! This tool would cover all areas of teaching in my mind. There is a visual, auditory, and hands on representation just with this one piece of technology! I would not just be reaching one type of learner, I would be giving an opportunity for optimal learning for my whole class!

I want to get away from paper and pencil.

This will teach my class how to find answers by using critical thinking, real world examples, problem solving, and reflection by watching how they completed their work! It will be used everyday in my classroom. As soon as I read about this product I knew this would be the best way to change my teaching strategies to the speed at which children are learning today!
