My Project
I teach World History and APUSH and I love when students realize that history can be fun. Students often do simulations or hands on activities throughout the year for which they have to reflect on what they learned from the activity and share out in a class discussion. Students also read and annotate documents individually, in pairs or small groups and then they get to share their ideas by presenting to the class. I strongly believe that giving students a voice in class gives them ownership of the material we are covering.
An Ipad and Apple TV would give sharing student ideas a visual element.
Document cameras can also project but with an Ipad/Apple TV combination students can annotate on the fly and add visuals as well as video clips from the internet to further enhance their presentation. With an Ipad, presentations and notes can be recorded and sent out to the class as class notes but also to show absent students the work that they missed. This last point is especially important since so many students are missing class due to Covid, exposure to Covid or just being stressed out. Having this ability to take snap shots of what we did in class would be invaluable for absent students to keep pace with the class.
