This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do your remember what your classroom was like in second grade? It's hard to imagine all of the changes that have taken place over time, but the technological age is upon us and our classroom needs to keep up with the times.
My students attend a public rural school in Hawaii.
They come from all walks of life and many places throughout the globe. Like Hawaii my class is a melting pot of cultures and my students all have different backgrounds and experiences. Many of my students are exposed to new technology only at school.
My Project
Our class is in need of two iPads to create a mini learning center for our classroom. My students work in a whole group setting and small group centers throughout the day. The iPads would be used for listening to online stories, language skills applications, math skills applications and accessing online learning website. The iPads would be simple for my students to use and they would lack the technical difficulties that we have with our few aging computers. The iPads can be used independently, with a partner, or with a small group. My students who do not have access to technology at home will have more access at school because of these iPads.
The students in my classroom are growing up in a technological age.
Our classroom funds are not providing for the technology that my students need for the future. Having these iPads will help expose students to different programs and help promote independence in my classroom. The iPads are also highly engaging and even my reluctant learners will want to access them, whether they know they are learning or not.
