My students are 3 and 4 years students from Apopka, Fl who are developmentally delayed or are on the Autism spectrum. They are bright, resilient, full of happiness and energy. They are very hands on with their environment and eager to learn.
I have 12 exceptional students who are learning and excelling in early literacy and school readiness skills.
We learning self-regulation skills and safety skills through classroom exploration. The children love reading, art, and having a quiet space of their own to go too.
My Project
The iPads will increase the students' expressive communication skills and help them answer a question during circle time, small group time, lunch times, and during unstructured time throughout the day. They will be able to communicate with their teachers and their peers during play time. Will be able to request their needs and wants. The iPads will allow the students to become more confident and independent in their emerging skills as the get ready for kindergarten.
The iPads will be programmed with an communication app that allow the children to select a picture that will verbalize the item to the teacher.
Using this app, the child can ask for snack, to use the bathroom, share what toy they want, answer questions (what colors, shape, animal, etc.) and much more. The opportunity to communicate is endless with this app! We would love you help to allow these students to be able to have an iPad with them at all time, allowing them to spontaneously share ideas with teachers AND peers, answer questions during lessons and express their needs whenever they arise.
