This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are learners with special needs who are just commencing their journey in music making. Many of my students are taking music for the first time in years and a handful of them have had music instruction through their previous school, but are not currently exercising the music knowledge that they have gained.

Being the school's first music teacher in a long time, I would love to provide learning opportunities using these computers and kickstart the student's journey in music production/technology.

Learning technology skillsets in this day and age have become invaluable and I firmly believe my students can express their creativity to their fullest potential and learn lifelong technology skills using this equipment.

With this equipment, I hope to offer music production lessons and have students create tracks that inspire new music. I hope to offer courses in DJing and teach skills that they could apply post graduation, starting from general setup and sound equipment to the mixing of tracks. Students would also be able to record themselves and create a studio environment in their own classroom enabling them to do podcasts and live music recording sessions.

Here at school we aim to support the student's IEP goals by targeting process skills. Examples of these skills include: creating, demonstrating, evaluating, integrating, organizing, performing, generalizing, explaining, connecting and differentiating. All of which can be facilitated using technology and music software.

Music and music technology programs offer students the creative outlet where they can express themselves freely. Thank you so much for visiting our page.
