Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We need a main computer compatible with aging eMacs in our lab that can: share a printer, share a scanner, act as file server, be used with a VGA projector, process photos for our yearbook using modern software, run Apple Remote Desktop, edit sound/photo/video and create multimedia presentations.

B M S provides sixth, seventh and eighth graders with a strong district-adopted curriculum in all subject areas.

State standards and district adopted texts are used in all core curricular areas, including English, mathematics, science, history, physical education, health, Spanish and visual and performing arts. Students at B M S enjoy a variety of extracurricular activities and enrichment curriculum. We participate in the Southern Alameda County league and compete with area middle schools in football, cross country, basketball, wrestling, soccer, volleyball, softball and track. Enrichment curriculum includes, orchestra, band, jazz band, drama production, art, computers, Leadership, and Spanish, and Spanish for Native Speakers. Our students are creative, engaged, hardworking and passionate about art. They live in a area of extreme poverty and belong to a Title I school. Many students speak a language other than English at home.

My Project

Our entire school will see and experience the direct results of art as technology, behind-the-seen processing and publishing for an audience of 1,000 students. Students will be able to establish a network connection, using this computer to manage the server and the entire computer lab environment, such as remote sharing and control capabilities, file and print sharing, Photo processing, saving, storing and publishing is a huge project for the school 80-page yearbook each year. We need to manage thousands of photos. In order to successful, we must process and publish large quantities of high-resolution files with advanced image-editing software. We need to use software for layout and design and desktop publishing for school events. We need hardware that can actually run the necessary software without crashing. With regards to web design, students need to be able to access their files and manage web hosting servers. Students must be able to conduct File Transfer Protocol to the web.

I have requested one laptop computer for publishing media for the general public, such as websites, books, literary mag, and online information.

We need a "Central Command" laptop computer in our lab for management and production. We must be able to do something as simple as use a projector, share a printer, FTP & share screens remotely. We also need an advanced tool capable of running photo, sound, and video-editing software. Our audience, students and parents, will benefit in multiple ways.
