This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students struggle to read, but they have the desire to improve their decoding skills and become more fluent readers. Meeting my students at their level may seem easy, however finding reading passages or books that are appealing to a middle school aged student is not an easy task! Many easy to find books are geared for the younger child, making reading seem childish. Decodable books that engage the middle school population will increase their motivation and confidence! In addition to decoding, comprehension workbooks that are aligned with these readers will help them complete the whole circle of becoming a fluent, well-versed reader.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
