This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Do you remember what it was like the first time you read a book that you couldn't put down? I teach an 11th grade Advanced Placement (AP) Language and Composition course. My students live in a high-need community and often times do not have the supplies they need to be successful in the classroom.
My students all have GPAs of 3.5 or higher and are the top ranked students in their grade level.
Unfortunately, the English department does not have any copies of these texts to give out to the students. I want my bright, young students to succeed in English. And, to do that, they must have textbooks!
My Project
We need 18 copies of the textbook "Everything's An Argument" so that my students will be able to thoroughly study the text both at home and in class. With these textbooks, my students will develop the skills necessary for them to be successful on the Nationwide AP exam in May 2011. If successful, students can receive college credit for taking this AP course.
Your donations will ensure that my AP students will have the materials they need in order to be successful.
AP classes are rigorous and every student MUST have a textbook of their own for learning.
