Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This material will do so much for my students. So that they can learn how to shape environmental and climate policy, these books break down how the U.S. Government works as it applies to their AP U.S. Government Class.

In this class, we have four projects that will focus on climate and environmental policy and give students hands-on experience designing communication with the government regarding this issue.

Our first project will use the AP books to understand the concept of political participation in the U.S. Federal System and help students form their political identities around climate and the environment.

Our second project will use the concept of the Bill of Rights and the amendments to the Constitution to look at the intersection of human rights and climate/environmental policy.

Our third project will support student understanding of the U.S. Congressional committees involved in climate/environmental policy. Students will practice writing, debating, and passing climate/environmental policy and then send that written climate/environmental bill to their own representatives, as well as heads of those committees.

In our fourth project, students employ their understanding of the U.S. Supreme Court precedents surrounding climate/environmental Supreme Court decisions.
