Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school provides students with rigorous academics, dedicated teachers, and a safe learning environment. Along with my colleagues, I strive to offer opportunities for my students to become successful, productive, young men and women. My classes this year are composed of students studying Biology and AP Environmental Science.
My students are ambitious and driven and enter my classroom eager to learn.
Each day when they arrive, I greet them with equal enthusiasm and a desire to assist them in reaching the goals that they set for themselves.
My Project
My high school science class is an exciting place! Students are encouraged to work cooperatively and collaboratively! The atmosphere is very supportive and I act as their facilitator. My AP Environmental Science and Biology classes are very hands-on. I believe in encouraging students to explore as they learn.
In an effort to support my students' curiosity, I strive to keep my classroom resources as updated as possible.
As my students prepare for their AP Environmental Science and Biology EOC exams, we use a variety of online resources, programs, and apps. Some of the school provided tablets do not fluidly support certain programs, so I am seeking funding for two classroom iPads with protective cases for student use.
Additionally, I am looking to update my review book library with some newer editions of study guides for the AP exam. Many of my students would not be able to afford their own preparatory books to help them review for the exam, but our classroom library is available to all students throughout the year!
Finally, we are requesting red worms to set up our classroom compost bin for the new year!
