My Students
My students are amazing and are the reason I enjoy teaching. Our school is a Title I school and is usually presented with a lot of challenges. Students come from a variety of backgrounds and various circumstances. However, this does not stop them from working hard. Two of my class periods are co-teach and includes students with various learning disabilities.
My Project
Students need to practice and see science. It's one thing to read about science while learning the basics, but hands-on activities and labs are necessary to bring science to life! Last year students did not get the hands activities they needed and Nevada science standards require students to model and engineer which was extremely hard to do at home.
This is the second year our school has offered AP Environmental Science and we don't have a lot of activities or equipment for the class.
More specifically, soil science hands-on activities and labs. I have had experience with the soil lab kits from Carolina and they would be a great addition to the class. The class also focuses a lot on air pollution such as CO2 and the meter would be a great addition to the class for the students to see how carbon plays a role in their lives.
