Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Have you ever tried to bake a cake without the correct equipment? Well my AP Chemistry Class is fighting that battle in every lab we attempt. Please help us get some of the correct equipment for our labs so that we are safe and learn proper lab techniques while getting great results!
My students are low income and high risk students from an urban area in Texas.
All of my AP students are registered to take at least 3 AP Exams and up to as many as 10 AP Exams. They work hard and need exposure to as many experiences as possible, to prepare them for college and the rest of their lives.
My Project
Students will use the basic supplies in AP Chemistry to make Chemistry just a little more fashionable with their new designer neon colored goggles, as well as learn the importance to not only looking good but being safe! They will also sport the attractive plastic gloves during labs, channeling Micheal Jackson but using gloves on both hands. Students will also learn some excellent piping skills with their new glass pipette and bulbs!
I know my list of supplies isn't super exciting but these are a few things that my students need in our new class to keep them safe and to teach them proper techniques for future labs in college.
