This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Although my district is a underserved area, some of my students are really brilliant. They are smart, upbeat, behave, and doing great academically. They are in honor classes, magnet classes, AP classes, and on-level classes. Looking at their bright faces, I see the future of our nation.
My experience is that they can be very successful if they have the right learning tools and methods with love and caring (good AP supply materials for both teacher and students, for instance).
As a underserved area, our regular textbooks are 20+ years old. There are very limited amount of materials to support our classes for teaching and learning because the very limited budgets have to pay for pandemic related issues, free meals, free test registration fee, free basic supplies (pen, pencil, notebook, eraser, etc.), and so on.
Almost all the students have very little or no pocket money to spend. With this situation, it is very hard to ask either parents or school to buy any supportive materials for the students and teachers. But it is necessary to have some sort of teaching/ learning materials in order to teach/ learn more efficiently. That's why I am asking the kind donors to give my students and I a great AP calculus AB bundle.
I would use the bundle in the daily basis to guide me in teaching and to give students enough practice. With the high quality of the lesson plan, lecture, pacing, worksheet, and solutions, it will save me a lot of time to be a more efficient teacher in the rigorous AP calculus AB field. This will make my students learn better and stand out in the college application!
