This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My kindergarten students have amazing imaginations and are not afraid to try things. They need activities that allow them to use their creativity and natural curiosity. STEM bins will give them these opportunities. Each bin has different engineering manipulatives and materials along with task cards that picture many different structures.

Kindergartens become engineers, right before my eyes.

Students use the materials to engineer the structure on the task card. Students work in pairs practicing important skills such as collaboration, communication, problem solving and working together to achieve a common goal.

I want my students to be engaged in their learning. Not doing repetitive worksheets. They will use the STEM bins as morning work, in workshops and whenever their daily work is completed. If I'm being honest, I like building and creating with blocks and other objects, too. I can't wait to see the excitement and engagement as they become confident explorers who are not afraid to make mistakes and try again.
