Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Most of my students struggle with behavior issues that are disruptive. 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.
My students will apply the knowledge and skills they learn in our classroom to their real life situations to be better students and be better people.
Our classroom is set up so that the students can apply almost everything they learn to their life away from school. When a student can find a point of reference within their own lives, they are better at applying the skills and knowledge to any given situation.
We work on life skills with the goal of encouraging all students to become lifelong learners.
My Project
Presently when they have anxiety or lose control, they are taken to the Dean's office. This is not conducive to being able to deal with their anxiety and anger in a productive safe environment. We need the materials to help them do this; the student would use the stress balls, zen gardens, etc to calm themselves so that they can express themselves without anger. Our goals is to ensure a safe yet productive was of transitioning from a point of anger back to the learning environment.
It is imperative that our students are able to be productive in school and to do this they need a safe place to go to de-escalate from an angry or anxiety filled situation.
It is important that our students stay in school and work to complete their secondary education.
