This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students at our school are eager learners looking to find a safe and secure place to learn. Many of our students are from immigrant families from Cuba, Puerto Rico, Honduras, and other countries that are faced with many challenges. Our school provides a home for a diverse and cultural community.
Our school is a Title I school in which our students a come from diverse backgrounds such as very low income families at many times below the poverty line.
Ninety percent of our students are on free or reduced price lunch. Our school is located in the heart of one of the lowest socioeconomic neighborhoods where many parents do not even speak English. Within my classroom I also have several students that are English Language Learners as well as special needs students with a variety of issues such as ADHD and learning disabilities. These conditions at times make it difficult for students to learn and can benefit from any aid or assistance that they can get to help them to succeed.
My Project
This laptop will make a huge difference in the lives of my students. With a laptop students can take their learning on the go especially when they are feeling anxious sitting in class all day. This will allow students to feel anxious free and relieve their stress from being asked to sit all day. Since many of my students have ADHD they can benefit from being active and engaging in group activities in which they are creating new learning experiences.
With a laptop my special needs students can engage in mobile learning that will allow them to feel stress free.
Students enjoy being active and engage in group activities. When they are indoors it is much more difficult so in order to have our students be stress free, the laptop will allow them to feel calm on days they are not able to go outside and participate in athletic activities. They can move freely around the room while still being able to learn.
