Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My classroom is full of eager learners. A typical day in our class is a mixture of lots of learning and tone of fun. I've been blessed with students who love school, especially math! My goal is to grow my students' love for math by helping them to get a deeper understanding of the subject.
I have sixty-four fifth graders that range in age from ten to eleven.
My students come from various cultural and economic backgrounds. Our school is in a high poverty, urban area in NYC, in which many families are faced with a low income.
Our school atmosphere is absolutely amazing. Students, teachers and other faculty and staff operate as one big family. The students are eager to learn and impress their parents, teachers, principal and community. They go above and beyond each day to make us all proud.
My Project
Having the choice to choose what is best for you is the ultimate decision to make. What is best for you? If given the choice to choose what kind of seating you'd like to have in your classroom, what would you choose? A traditional desk and chair or a plastic wobble stool.
Kids always work better when they are in a comfortable chair or place and given the option to choose how they want to learn while in the classroom.
I want to give my students the opportunity to choose what type of seating and where they want to sit in the classroom to not only promote their engagement in their studies, but also in the classroom environment as well. These wobble stools will provide students with options.
Giving my students a choice in their learning, even as simple as the seat that they are going to sit in for an activity, really empowers them and their learning! Simple choices help them grow in their education and in the classroom on a social level.
