Ants in the Pants, but That's Okay

My Project

In our world of go, go, go, it is very hard for our students to sit and read. They unconsiously feel a "wrongness" about sitting still and quit. These chairs would help provide segway to becoming more comfortable in the library where it is good manners to be still and quite. It is not their fault that our world has become a place of chaos filled with overstimulation so much so that they cannot sit still and read a book. However, these chairs are tools that provides a gentle transition to teach them it's okay to be at peace sometimes and just enjoy the quite and stillness of a quiet environment. I have been teaching over twenty years and I have seen the love of reading slowly fading away from our children. They still want to hear stories they just don't seem to have the patience to read the words for themselves. I desire to try all that I can to help them discover the treasures they are missing by not reading more. I believe that if they can have a little more movement in these chairs it will help fill the need to move around and give them more patience to read. This will open immeasureable doors and enrich their lives in every way.
