My students are a group of wonderful six and seven-year-old boys and girls that come from varying social and economic backgrounds, some being more fortunate than others. Our school provides 100% free lunch and breakfast and many children receive backpack food for the weekend. Many students come to school without appropriate clothing, never mind the appropriate tools that they need to be successful learners. That is where I come in. It is my job to meet the needs of every student that comes through my door and I want to provide the environment to help them all thrive, no matter where they come from or what they lack.
My Project
It has been a long winter, and it isn't over yet!! I have noticed in the past month that my kiddos are all over the place. They need movement and aren't getting much this winter.
I have kids that stand, sit, wobble and wiggle while trying to do their work.
I can only provide so much GoNoodle and brain breaks in the classroom so I figured now was the time to introduce them to wobble seats and flexible seating. I'm thinking this may be just what they need to help them focus and complete their work and most importantly, they will LOVE IT!!
