Help me give my students 4 robotic mice to use with a resource kit that includes mazes, walls and tunnels (total of 83 pieces) to develop coding skills.
My third grade bilingual students come to school everyday excited to learn! I teach at a Title 1 school where a culturally diverse population meets and exceeds expectations. Even though most of my students face many difficulties in their home life, they are eager to come to school and challenge themselves.
My students enjoy collaborating with each other towards a common goal.
WIthin a group setting, my students use technology to cooperate and appreciate each other's strengths and develop social skills. Last year my students had the opportunity to use coding mice that our school librarian introduced them to. They were totally engaged and motivated to work together to solve the problems while acquiring new technology skills.
My Project
My project will put a twist on formative assessment through coding. Students can engage in communicating content knowledge while also developing 21st Century skills. The students will code the mice to travel to answer choices within the maze. This can be used for all content areas. For example, when students practice vocabulary, the students will code the mouse to proceed to the correct answer choice on the maze. Also, students can use coding mice to learn math facts in a fun, motivating way. The opportunities are endless!
This innovative technology will develop enthusiasm for learning content, critical thinking skills and collaborative problem solving
