Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are combining creativity and real-world learning to make a difference in our community. In our economics class, they have been studying the homebuying process. Everything from saving for a down payment to understanding mortgage terms. Now, they are bringing that knowledge to life by writing character-driven narratives that explain the homebuying journey in a relatable and engaging way.

To share what they've learned, students will turn their stories into short animated films.

These films will be showcased at a community event where families will be invited to learn about the homebuying process through student-created storytelling.

To make this project possible, we need drawing tablets. These tools will allow students to animate their stories in a more precise and professional way than with a mouse or touchpad. With the right tools, they’ll be able to express their ideas more clearly and create high-quality animations that will truly resonate with viewers.

We are asking for a classroom set of drawing tablets compatible with our existing devices. These will be used daily during the animation process and will continue to support student creativity beyond this project.

This project does more than teach financial literacy. It builds student voice, honors their creativity, and empowers them to make a meaningful contribution to their families and community. Many of our students come from communities where the homebuying process can feel inaccessible or confusing. This showcase will help break down barriers in a culturally relevant, student-centered way.

Your support will give students the tools they need to succeed and help them teach and inspire others through art and knowledge.
