Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are a bunch of very enthusiastic learners! They come to school every day ready to learn. My kindergarten students are a very diverse group with the majority of them learning English as their second language.
Our school is an inner city school where 100% of our students are entitled to free breakfast and lunch.
Many of their parents work two jobs and can only afford basic necessities. We also have a program where we send home food on the weekends for our neediest families.
My Project
At the beginning of the school year, I always get a classroom of fresh faces who may or may not have ever stepped foot into a school before. Many of my new students have a hard time even telling you what their first name is, let alone their last names.
I am requesting the name badge holders, Avery Name Tags and badge clips so that I can create name tags for my students until they can get their school ID's made.
Our school utilizes lunch numbers in the cafeteria and it is handy to have it written on their name tags until they can memorize their number. It also helps move the cafeteria line in that if we have to look up the students, their first and last names are on them to make look ups faster. Also, unfortunately, it is important to have everyone in the school building have a name tag to make sure we can account for everyone in the building.
