This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
My 10th grade students really enjoy mysteries and solving puzzles. And Then There Were None is a classic whodunit story that is perfect for practicing writing and reading. My students struggle with Virginia SOLs that involve making inferences and conclusions, as well as presenting persuasive arguments. I believe it would be fun and engaging to have students practice writing arguments for why they believe one of the characters is the culprit. Each chapter of the novel is short and intriguing, making it easy to keep my students' interest and have sufficient time in class to read and discuss.
And of course, I personally love Agatha Christie's work and have read almost all her books, so I think this would be a great project.
