My Project

I teach at a Title I school where many students face challenges both in and out of the classroom. For some, books are more than just stories—they're lifelines, mirrors, and safe places to explore tough emotions. That’s why I’m asking for your help to bring And Then, Boom! by Lisa Fipps into our classroom.

This powerful novel-in-verse touches on friendship, trauma, and finding strength in the face of hardship.

Many of my 6th grade students will see themselves in the characters and themes of this story. For some, it may be the first time they truly feel represented in a book. For others, it will open their eyes to experiences different from their own—helping to build empathy and compassion among classmates.

Your support will give my students access to a high-quality novel that resonates deeply with their lives. It will also, encourage reading engagement and meaningful classroom discussion, and foster a sense of understanding and kindness in our middle school community.
