Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
According to txla.org, the Texas Bluebonnet Award is a unique program for children in grades 3 – 6 designed to encourage reading for pleasure. Each year, 20 books are chosen for the Texas Bluebonnet Award Master List. Schools and libraries around the state participate in the program, encouraging students to read a minimum of five books from the list. In January, students vote for their favorite title. At our elementary school, we also have an elementary "Battle of the Books" against other elementary campuses.
Our school is ready to be the SMCISD Bluebonnet Battle of the Books Champions, and we have our eyes on that trophy!
The kiddos become so fascinated with these wonderful books, the contest, and the voting. Please, help me provide 3 of each book to our school. I would also like to give each student who makes the team a study materials (fun pens, bags, and clipboards) to organize and keep track of their progress. Please, help me bring this amazing project to life for our Strikers.
