My Students
Lied STEM Academy is an urban middle school in Las Vegas, NV. The school is a STEM magnet school in the CCSD. During the past five years, the band has grown from 23 students to 340 students. As we transitioned to virtual learning during COVID it became apparent that we were not prepared to service the students with the best musical experience. More importantly, the students became disengaged in what would normally be the most engaging subject, band.
Now that we are back to In-Person learning, it is my goal to re-imagine the classroom experience.
I would like to improve the students social and emotional skills by providing students with more resources. We have a large number of electric bass students, but are limited by the number of amplifiers and cables for the students to use. The students in band are some of the highest achieving students on campus. I believe in the importance of providing opportunities for the students at Lied STEM Academy, and your generous support will change the lives of many kids. Please help to save the music and the Lied STEM Academy
My Project
I am requesting bass amps, mixer, cables, tuners and strings. I would like to improve the students' social and emotional skills by providing students with more resources and equipment.
As we have navigated COVID, many students picked up the electric bass guitar.
The problem is that we do not have enough equipment for all of the students and are in need of the following: electric bass guitars, tuners, amplifiers, mixer, strings and cables for the students to use. I would like to keep every student engaged, but they need the correct tools to make that happen.
If we can supply the students with the ability to create their music, then we will fulfill enhance the educational journey. The following music content standards are being addressed. MU:Pr4.7.6 Perform contrasting pieces of music demonstrating their interpretations of the elements. MU:Pr6.7.1 Perform the music with technical accuracy and stylistic expression to convey the creator’s intent. MU:Pr4.8.6 Perform contrasting pieces of music, demonstrating as well as explaining how the music's intent is conveyed by their interpretations of the elements of music and expressive qualities (such as dynamics, tempo, timbre, articulation or style, and phrasing).
