This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Shakespeare once said, "All the world’s a stage, And all the men and women merely players; They have their exits and their entrances; And one man in his time plays many parts." These words speak a truth that many of us easily look past. Theater some may think is an elective that is not as vital to one's education as the typical major subjects such as ELA, Math, or Science.
However, I argue Theater is just as crucial to a student's education as these subjects.
In my Theater class, I teach my students the skills necessary to be creative, quick-witted, cooperative, and confident. In my Theater class, I have my students do a series of exercises to improve their acting skills with a focus on improv. I see students grow not only their acting skills but their confidence as they find their voices. They learn to no longer be afraid, they learn to speak clearly and loudly, they learn to work together, they learn to take risks and they learn to have fun.
In my Theater Arts class, my students occasionally perform projects of original scenes that they have develop at the end of all Units. I wish to provide them with an array of simple props that they can use to enhance their class projects and their learning. Thus, I implore you to be a patron of the arts! These props that I have requested will go a long way in making my Theater classes more engaging and help expand the skills my students can use not only as actors but as confident and brave individuals.
