The library STEM center offers learning activities for all levels of ability. My students live in a rural environment and need more hands-on experiences with small motor skills. Over half of our students come from economically disadvantaged households and we have immigrant students from Somalia and Mexico. Students do not have craft supplies at home due to the cost of the materials and have not had the opportunity to practice small motor skills. The school library media center serves the important purpose of providing resources for our students and teachers. These STEM activities will provide the opportunity for students to craft and create.
Students that have hands on activities are excited to learn.
Students in middle school learn about ancient civilizations and weaving dates back to early humans. Weaving has played a crucial role in shaping economies, cultures, and fashion throughout history. By having these items available to all students in the library STEM center, students will be able to make connections to their reading and social studies lessons.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
