Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are some of the most amazing children who inspire and continually motivate me to give my all to enrich their lives. Their commitment, dedication, and drive to do their best and give their all in class is the reason they provide me with so much pride and commitment to my profession. My students range from limited English proficiency to advanced language arts, and they work together to help lift one another academically.
Despite the economic challenges, community adversity, and family struggles that confront these students and typically hinder the educational process, my students have the motivation and determination to overcome these challenges and beat the odds.
Our classroom is a tightly knit community of dedicated learners who believe in themselves, are goal-driven, and keep positive mindsets to succeed in life and make a difference!
This lively bunch tries their best to focus on the positives in themselves and others, have the confidence to take risks, and not dwell on the negatives. They are eager to learn, willing to make mistakes that they can grow from, and not let anything get in their way. Despite not having much, they are grateful and appreciative for everything that they do have.
My Project
In our classroom, we use Chromebooks and textbooks for our lessons. While these provide students with excellent information, there is nothing like experiencing the sights of magnificent ancient civilizations, their ruins, and their art through one's own eyes! Providing the opportunity for my students to see the ancient civilizations of Mesopotamia, Egypt, India, China, Greece, and Rome will bring history and its artifacts to life and spark a greater appreciation and understanding of history and its relation to us today.
With your generous support, you will enable students that might never be able to witness these many of these sights to virtually see history through their own eyes, appreciate the magnitude of the contributions made throughout history, and learn from past mistakes.
Allowing students to witness history in this manner will lead to a deeper understanding of history, its impact on the world today, and will allow students to use their knowledge in an effort to make a difference in our world.
The spectacular visuals will spark greater interest and enthusiasm for learning and will ultimately improve education for these students and open up a whole new world they never fully understood.
