There are approximately 600 students in our school. Our kindergarten classes are full to the maximum of 30 students. All of our students are economically disadvantaged. The school provides them with breakfast and lunch daily.
Each morning I am greeted with 30 bright smiles that are eager to learn.
We are in need of Super Sticky Easel Pads. Each day I use these pads to write a morning message and some facts about our read aloud. I then leave the page hanging in the room. The students often refer back to the pages to discuss their learnings. We also use these pads to make anchor charts. This is made with the students to help them capture the most important content and relevant strategies. All that is needed for these wonderful learning tools is chart paper and colored markers.
The students are very energetic and full of movement. They cannot be asked to sit at desks all day. I like to have them walk around the room and discuss the anchor charts within groups.
Please help keep relevant and current learning accessible to the students. Anchor charts enable students to make connections as new learning happens.
Our class is in need of chart paper to build anchor charts for the classroom. Posting anchor charts in the class keeps relevant and current learning accessible to students, reminding them of prior learning and enabling to make connections as new learning happens.
Students can refer to anchor charts and use them as tools as they think or to question, to expand ideas, and to contribute to discussions and solving problems in class.
When students are involved in the process of creationg learning tools, they are more likely to comprehend more deeply and remember more of what they learn. Anchor charts trigger connections with the initial lesson.
