Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach kindergarten this year. About 90% of the students at my school receive free or reduced-price lunch. All of the students in my classroom are bilingual students. In my classroom we work on strengthening our Spanish reading, writing and speaking skills. Some of my students come from difficult family lives, but they don't let that stop them from learning and trying their best!
Most students are living with a single parent, grandparent or both parents who work full time, although many parents are eager to help in anyway they can I want to help them provide the best for their child.
I plan on building a community in our classroom that will allow each student to feel comfortable and express their creativity. I want to support my students the best I can! They like to move, they love to be part of our community, and they love lots of positive attention.
My Project
The magnetic white board easel will be a great tool in my classroom. I teach whole group Focus Lessons to my students while they sit on a carpet. The easel allows me to create Anchor Charts that captivate the skills we learn daily in a visually appealing way. The students will also be able to participate in the lessons while coming up to the easel and adding their ideas. These Anchor Charts can be saved and hung up around the classroom to work as reminders when students need them.
Having this easel and chart paper will allow me to write so many anchor charts for all our subjects and will make it easy to flip through to review what we learned for the day!
My students will benefit from having these items to use while I help to engage them in learning.
