My students need Privacy Partitions to maintain focus. The Printer will allow task cards to be created and the Chart Stand will allow for greater visibility and classroom positioning, not just on the wall.

Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

We are a Title 1 school, and many of our parents have limited resources. I teach close to 95 students, and several of them are two grade levels below performance levels in Math; it's quite difficult for them to grow and excel without the proper Math foundation and basics needed to support them.

Before Hurricane Harvey, the parents struggled to provide school supplies, and now it's tough to get the basic necessities as many families adjust to temporary or relocated housing.

Our students struggle in Reading and that makes Math difficult. However, with the Chromebooks that we recently received from DonorsChoose.org, they are working on activities that make Math what they consider a game since it's on the computer. As a result, they strive to learn more and we've seen an increase in their district benchmark test scores of 10% within 30 days of receiving the Chromebooks.

My Project

Several of our students are two grade levels behind in their learning. Therefore, greater educational support is needed to spiral back and reteach much of the foundation and basic knowledge that's missing and holding them back.

In order to provide differentiated instruction, the printer will allow Math task cards and Math games to be created for varied learning solidification.

The Anchor Chart Stand and materials will provide needed support to display the lessons and strategies we utilize daily. Since the students' desks sit two together, Privacy Partitions are needed to allow for greater focus.

My desire is to provide the tools necessary for them to become confident and successful.
