My students need chart paper and markers. Students use these anchor charts to refer to after they move to small groups. The charts make a great reference around the room.

My Students

I teach 3rd grade at a rural elementary school in Southwest Virginia. My students are a very rambunctious group of third graders that work hard to get the most out of their education and are eager to learn.

Many of my students come from working families that depend on the school environment to help their children become the best they can be.

Many students do not have the supplies they need at school. I believe they deserve the best education I can provide for them. Although I wish I could provide all the materials they require, I need help from others to do this.

My Project

Do you remember discussing an interesting math, reading, or writing strategy as a whole group with your teacher, then going back to your desk to try it on your own only to realize you forgot one of the steps? We use anchor charts to guide our processes and help reinforce strategies.

Having chart paper to make anchor charts makes a world of difference in a child being able to apply a concept taught and carry it into their work.

Our room is full of anchor charts we have made together as a class for them to refer back to when needed.
