My Students
My students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. I ask them, "Who is the best class in the whole world?" and they reply, "We are!" I want them to know I believe in them and they can do anything.
I teach at a low-income/high poverty school district where 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best. They want to be in school because they want to learn all they can so they can be successful one day.
My Project
Chart paper and Sharpie markers would be used to create anchor charts. An anchor chart is a tool that is used to support instruction. As I teach a lesson, I create a chart, together with my students, that captures the most important content and relative strategies. Anchor charts build a culture of literacy in the classroom by making thinking--both the teacher's and students'--visible. Having an abundance of chart paper and colorful markers would allow the creation of daily anchor charts. We create anchor charts for literacy, as well as math, science, and social studies. Past anchor charts are posted around the classroom. Students can refer back to anchor charts for support.
