My Students

As a teacher, I hope to give my students an environment where they feel supported and loved. School should be their safe and happy place, a place where they can develop themselves and their futures.

I teach in an extremely diverse public charter school, where more than 50% are considered at-risk and more than 25% are English Language Learners.

Our school is located in a historic neighborhood in Washington, DC that is known for its rich history of art and culture.

My students are kind, curious, and animated. Many of my students face hardships in and out of school, and I want to alleviate their in-school experience as much as possible. I want to create a positive classroom experience so they can achieve their maximum potential.

My Project

Anchor charts are artifacts of classroom learning. We use them daily in math class to write down procedures, algorithms, vocabulary and diagrams.

Anchor charts can be displayed as reminders of prior learning and built upon over multiple lessons.

We need anchor charts and markers so we can keep mementos from our learning posted around the classroom. The card stock will also be used to print out mini anchor charts that will last longer than normal paper.

In math, we create anchor charts almost daily. Our classroom walls are filled with diagrams of base ten blocks, fraction models and step-by-step procedures to add and subtract multi-digit numbers. These anchor charts will last us for months to come.
