Mrs. Corder from Williston SC is requesting supplies through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need an anchor chart station to secure anchor chart paper and hold supplies necessary for literacy lessons. This cart is a necessity when implementing the Balanced Literacy model to teach reading.

Our students are the heart and soul of our school. Each day is a great day with them! Most of our students come from low-income families with a median household income of $28,000.00 per year. In our county, 48% are single-parent families while 15.6% of the population is unemployed. The county's poverty index is 86.2%.
In the face of these discouraging odds, our students persevere, and successfully work and learn with the resources they are provided with.
Each year, our district's graduation rate has slowly increased. By utilizing the tools required to succeed, our students have the ability to meet and exceed their learning objectives.
As their teacher, I have had the privilege to witness my students' faces when they experience an "aha" moment. Their excitement is a beautiful sight to behold. This past year showed significant increases in their MAP scores over the academic year. These increases are proof of these children's hard work despite the odds against them.
A gathering space is necessary when teaching readers using the Balanced Literacy model, adopted by our school. The anchor chart station is at the heart of this space and is utilized to display each day's lesson on a teacher/student-created anchor chart. These anchor charts are then posted onto the classroomwalls for my students to refer to when practicing their newly learned reading and writing strategies.
The cart will also provide a convenient place to store all materials necessary for each day's lesson.
This ensures that each lesson flows smoothly and that no tiime is wasted searching for a marker or book needed to teach a lesson.
