Anatomy in Agriculture

Help me give my students the opportunity to excel in their Veterinary Medical Applications anatomy curriculum. These preserved organs will be used year after year to allow students to see, touch, and understand the interworkings of the body.

My Students

To introduce you to my students, you need to know where they come from. My students range from 9th to 12th grade with the majority of them being in 9th grade. They come from all walks of life and are all in my class for different reasons. Some students take my class because they want to get into welding, some want to be in the FFA organization, and some are just interested in future careers in fields that are related to agriculture.

What you should also know about my students is that over half of them are still rebuilding their homes from the flooding that occurred after Hurricane Harvey two years year, and Tropical Storm Imelda last year.

Students are still displaced, living in travel trailers, or living in damaged homes while repairs are being made. This significantly impacts my students' ability to complete work at home or to have the supplies needed to work in class.

My Project

This year is only the second year that I have taught the Veterinary Medical Applications class. I have learned alot in the past year and a half myself, and hope to continue learning and growing as an educator in the future.

One of the things that I have learned the most teaching this class is that the students need to have the chance to see and touch to understand what they are learning.

Last year I took some of the students to a workshop that had some hands on activtities for anatomy and they learned so much in that one day. By having some of those supplies available in my classroom, I am hoping that my students will have a better understanding of the curriculum of my class.
